The National Centre for the Performing Arts in China is a landmark building that is one of the new "Sixteen Scenic Spots of Beijing". It is located on the west side of Tiananmen Square and the west side of the Great Hall of the People in the center of Beijing. It consists of the main building, as well as underwater corridors, underground parking lots, artificial lakes, and green spaces on both the north and south sides.
The National Centre for the Performing Arts in China was designed by French architect Paul Andreu. The exterior of the National Centre for the Performing Arts is a semi elliptical shape, with a long axis length of 212.20 meters in the east-west direction and a short axis length of 143.64 meters in the north-south direction. The building height is 46.285 meters, covering an area of 118900 square meters, with a total construction area of approximately 165000 square meters, including a main building of 105000 square meters and underground ancillary facilities of 60000 square meters. The total cost is 3.067 billion yuan. There are supporting facilities such as an opera house, concert hall, theater, art exhibition hall, restaurant, audio-visual store, etc.
