The National Stadium, also known as the Bird's Nest, is located in the southern part of the central area of the Beijing Olympic Park. It was the main stadium for the 2008 Beijing Olympics and hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Summer Olympics and Paralympics, as well as the finals of track and field and football competitions, and the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics.

The sports stadium covers an area of 204000 square meters, with a building area of 258000 square meters, and can accommodate 91000 spectators, including 80000 formal seats and 11000 temporary seats; Designed by Jacques Herzog, De Meuron, Ai Weiwei, and Li Xinggang, and constructed by Beijing Urban Construction Group. The shape of the sports stadium is like a nest and cradle that nurtures life, carrying humanity's hope for the future. The designers did not make any extra treatment to this venue, exposing the structure to the outside, thus naturally forming the appearance of the building.

Construction began on December 24, 2003 and was completed in March 2008, with a total cost of 2.267 billion yuan. As a national landmark building and the main stadium of the 2008 Olympic Games, the structural characteristics of the National Stadium are very significant. The sports stadium is a top-level sports building and a large sports venue. The main structure is designed to have a service life of 100 years, with a fire resistance rating of Grade 1, an earthquake resistance intensity of 8 degrees, and a waterproof rating of Grade 1 for underground engineering. After the 2008 Olympic Games, the National Stadium became a large professional venue for Beijing citizens to participate in sports activities and enjoy sports entertainment, and became a landmark sports building and Olympic heritage. On April 15, 2014, the China Contemporary Top Ten Architecture Review Committee selected 20 buildings from over 1000 landmark buildings in China based on four indicators: age, scale, artistic quality, and influence. Finally, on June 8 of the same year, the Bird's Nest National Stadium was announced as one of the "Top Ten Contemporary Buildings in China".
